the new ethos : a book event

the poster for the book launch event at zlgdesign

after nearly fifteen years of quiet we finally decide on this day to come out of our little cave to launch our first book event at the office. for those who came, a very big thank you. gareth richards from gerakbudaya penang who is obviously very good at moderating also attracts some deep and painfully piercing questions about why do any writing at all (we all struggle with this one). seksan asks why not e publish or use social media etc. chian asks at what point do we really draw any satisfaction or how do we come to find happiness in writing. ash and naadiya talk about their publishing life, the promise of higher qualities of writing in this region. toward the end we also talk about charity through writing (suffian) and embracing other forms of practice of architecture and pedagogical methods through writing (nazmi). i thoroughly enjoy questions and comments from poesy liang and peter lai as well, and to ai wei for her suggestion that we all need physical copies in order to truly experience life. and quite frankly this is one very gratifying event of the year for me personally – and one which evokes an powerful ethos incomparable to other forms except through such lively (can i say lovely) conversations, and dialogue. thank you melanie thompson for managing,
