The lantern is a 49-key budget hotel development in china town Kuala Lumpur. The building is a four storey dilapidated shophouse and an office block with a bank on the ground floor, located in a very crowded corner of a retail mall and street bazaar. The interior is a open space with triple height atrium, albeit a very narrow one with windows overlooking the void. The hotel will open in a year or so, construction work is starting early next year. The facade is a naturally ventilated wall with limited views to the street.
